Collie Types

The Collie was probably derived from the Border Collie, perhaps with some cross-breeding from Borzois and Irish Setters. Today's conformation Collie was developed in Britain in the mid-19th century from working collies of the day. In those days, Collies looked very much like the Border Collie of today, says Presberg.

The same is true of the English Shepherd, the Australian Shepherd and the McNab. These breeds are all cousins, says Presberg.
